Changes to Social Security Are Coming Soon!
That’s right, the government’s regulation changes to Social Security officially go into effect on April 30, 2016.
Do you know if these changes will affect your retirement income? To find out, click here to get a copy of our simple guide to help you understand these changes.
Those who reached age 62 by the end of 2015 are still eligible to claim restricted benefits. If you reach age 62 after Dec. 31, 2015, you will not have this option.
Those who reach full retirement age, typically age 66, and file for Social Security benefits by April 30, 2016, will still be eligible to use the file and suspend strategy. After that, the strategy will be eliminated, making it impossible for anyone to collect benefits based on their (or someone else’s) work record while their benefits are suspended.
With these significant changes on the way, do you know how they could affect your retirement income strategy? It’s smart to be proactive and have this discussion now, rather than later, with a financial professional, as well as your tax advisor and the Social Security Administration, about how your Social Security benefits can fit into a complete retirement income strategy.
